Weekly standings update

This week AAPL slips a few spots in a “well known investment newsletter’s” 100 stock list to #54. Last week it was #33.
The text blurb in the list view mentions the deal with Orange to sell iPhones in the Middle East , Africa and Europe. The chart view is again bolded for 3 weeks now in a row, denoting it is withing 5% of what they consider a buy point. The text blurb in the chart view says it is working on the right side of cup base, 43% deep.
That is a deep cup, about the limits of what you would want. No mention of any handle, because there is none, yet. duh. As I have said, a handle is preferable….. it gives you a greater chance of a successful breakout and holding it.
We may or may not get one. We may have started one after sliding from 192, but it is too early to tell. A further move down next week towards 180, and I am going to start calling it a possible handle. They run from between 5 - 15% down typically.
The computer-manufacturers group, where AAPL is placed, is doing pretty well holding at 59 out of 197 industry groups. Remember just a few weeks ago it was 150 or worse on the list, and made a big jump up recently.
AAPL’s accum/dist rating holds at a B-, where it is been for a while.
For reference, RIMM is number 6, and the chart is also bolded. The text blurb in its chart says 3% past 135.95 buy point after clearing 6 month base. Looking at RIMM chart, I get a 125 buy point where it made a dip from roughly 124 -> about 112 area, forming what looks like a short shallow 10% handle. This stuff is very subjective though. Ask 3 different people, and you might get 3 different answers. Since it is also mentioned on this board often, POT is number 2, chart is not bolded, text blurb mentions finding support at 10 week line, and says a buy point of $216. Which would give the range of 5% within that of 206 - 226 roughly. Note none of this should be taken as a rec from me personally to buy or sell either of these,
Their standard electronic paper that you can search the past week’s editions isn’t working this morning, so I don’ t know if AAPL was mentioned elsewhere this week yet. If it works later and anything turns up, I’ll post it.
Nothing much in barron’s this weekend either, just passing mention in a story about Vodaphone.
