Revisiting my AAPL investment thesis
With a major news event now in our rearview mirror, it’s time to whip out the ole AAPL investment thesis and give it a once-over. Here’s my score sheet:
Current state of the company
- Products remain the class of the market
- Firing on all cylinders
- Growing pile of cash
- Taking market share
- Adapting business practices as needed to hone killer edge
Upcoming profit drivers
- App Store launch
- 3G iPhone launch in 70 countries
- Aggressive back-to-school promotions
- Likely iPod refresh for fall selling season
- Possible laptop refresh
- Snow Leopard
- New Apple stores coming online the way
- China and Russian iPhone contracts by end of year
- Continuing iTunes market domination
- Growing Halo effect
- Increasing prospects in the enterprise market
Unknowns
- Apple TV
- That tablet thingy
Reasons to be concerned
- Steve’s macrobiotic diet
- Inconsistent Apple store execution (my recent experience)
- Lies, FUD and malicious propaganda (nothing new there, Tony)
- Low unit sales of iphones for this quarter due to non-availability.
And the winner is …
Stay the course! I’m over-invested in AAPL and plan to stay that way.
