Store Report: West Hartford, CT
On June 28, 2008, nontekkie visited the Apple Store in West Hartford, CT and posted this report:
Getting cabin fever, I needed gas anyway so I took a ride for a recon at the Apple store in West Hartford. I wanna know how they can afford all the employees! I have to assume they have hired many people for the launch. One of the four greeters at the door was typically tight lipped, he wouldn’t even acknowledge that they were going to sell the phone at the store. He only confirmed the release date and said they were ready.
I asked if they expected lines like last time, again he didn’t answer the question but instead said that they didn’t really have any lines last year (we know from sister’s recon that they certainly did).
Anyway I counted a minimum of 16, probably 20 employees (take away cashiers and I never have that many in my whole store!). There was good traffic in the store for 4 pm, definitely more than the 20 employees though if you limit the count to the groups shopping together, there was more help than customers.
While I was there (about 10 minutes) they sold an iMac, macbook, and macbook pro. Surprisingly there was open access to an Air which is where I took this picture, looking from the front of the store towards the back. Just a reminder that this is one of their original stores and is between 7 and 8 years old. The sales staff are in the orange and the teal t shirts.
